PURPOSE:To improve battery capacity by winding an anode and a cathode through a separator, and then inserting it into a battery can, and sealing the battery can after injecting electrolyte, and then performing initial discharge until the terminal voltage becomes below 0V. CONSTITUTION:An active material consisting of metallic cobalt powder and nickel hydroxide power is kneaded with paste liquid so as to make paste, and then this paste is changed into sponge-shaped nickel. Subsequently, the cathode and a nonsintering type anode, which has a cadmium oxide as an active material, are combined, and are sealed so as to manufacture a battery, and then first discharge is performed. If initial discharge is continued until the terminal voltage becomes below 0V, metallic cobalt is exposed and the charge efficiency lowers again. On the other hand, since the anode also discharges some of surplus capacity that it secured once, the capacity lowers at the end of discharge. But, if the anode performs charge and discharge by one cycle, the charge efficiency improves from the second cycle. For this reason, the difference between the anode and the cathode enlarges, and as a result the sealed change capacity ratio can be enlarged. |
