PURPOSE:To attain sure data transmission with low power consumption by transmitting or interrupting an external light with a liquid crystal shutter in response to its applied voltage so as to send a data to a receiver. CONSTITUTION:An external light (i) passes through an optical path 12 and made incident in a liquid crystal layer 11 via a polarization filter 10 at all times. A control section 12 outputs an electric signal corresponding to a transmission data to a driver 15 and the driver 16 applies voltage application or application stop to/from the liquid crystal layer 11 via a terminal 14 based on an electric signal. The liquid crystal layer 11 transmits the external light (i) when no voltage is applied thereto and the orientation of the crystal is changed when the voltage is applied to disturb the light transmission. That is, the liquid crystal layer 11 applies the transmission or interruption of the external light (i) according to the electric signal corresponding to the data outputted from the driver 15 thereby converting the data into a light logically and sent to the receiver 5. Thus, sure data transmission is attained with low power consumption. |
