PURPOSE:To prevent toner on a rotary body from falling owing to vibration, etc., when a cover is opened or a developing unit is attached or detached to contaminate the device and a developing device by providing a function which separates a form from the rotary body, rotates the rotary body by at least one turn so as to clean toner developed on the rotary body, and removes untransferred toner from the rotary body if a jam occurs in the device. CONSTITUTION:A printing system consists of a drum 2, a main charger 3, a laser head 4, the developing unit 5, a transfer part 6, a fixation part 7, a cleaning blade 8, and an eraser lamp 9. If a jam occurs in the device, a jam detection signal generating circuit 14 sends a jam detection signal to a control part 15. The control part 15 interrupts a series of image forming processes, separates a form travel part 12 from the drum 2 by a solenoid 13, and rotates the drum 2 by one turn for cleaning. The control part 15 after confirming that the drum 2 is cleaned generates a form jam alarm signal. Consequently, if the jam occurs in the device, toner developed on the drum is deleted to prevent the device from being stained. |
