PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided whose lower substrate is fabricated using four masks, to thereby reduce manufacturing costs and improve productivity. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes the first and second substrates facing each other, a plurality of gate lines(121) and data lines(161) that are formed on the inner face of the first substrate and intersect to each other, and pixel electrodes(181) formed at pixel regions defined by the gate lines and data lines. The device further has switching elements that are connected to the gate lines and data lines and apply signals to the pixel electrodes, storage electrodes(165) each of which is overlapped with each pixel electrode, and a passivation film(171) formed between the storage electrodes and pixel electrodes. The liquid crystal display device also includes a semiconductor layer formed under the storage electrodes, a black matrix(210) that is formed on the inner face of the second substrate, covers portions other than the pixel regions, and has a width wider than the storage electrode by attachment allowance at the portion where the storage node and pixel electrode intersect to each other, a common electrode formed on the inner face of the second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates.
