An apparatus and a method for automatically searching a broadcast channel of a mobile terminal are provided to allow a user to easily select a broadcast channel. A wireless transmitting/receiving unit(60) receives system information from a base station. A storage unit(40) stores location information of a mobile terminal and a broadcast channel corresponding to the location information. A controller(30) extracts the location information of the mobile terminal from the system information, reads the broadcast channel corresponding to the location information from the storage unit(40) and displays it. The location information is SID(System Identification) or an NID(Network Identification).
