PURPOSE:To make it possible to light a flat lamp with good efficiency by forming a microwave cavity into a flat plate shape thick at a portion but extremely thin at its other portions, and providing a metallic bar to the thick portion. CONSTITUTION:A magnetron is used for a microwave power supply 1. A cavity 2 is connected to the microwave power supply 1 via a waveguide 3 and a power supply opening 4. The center portion of the cavity 2 is thickened while the other portions are thinned. A lamp 6 is put in the cavity 2. One face of the cavity 2 is a gauze 5 through which light from the lamp 6 is taken out. The lamp 6 is in the form of a comb of continuous inside configuration and also covers a wide area. A metallic bar 7 for impedance matching stands at the center portion of the cavity 6. The metallic bar 7 is screw-driven to go up and down so that its insertion length can be varied. |
