SPARK PLUG FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A spark plug (1) for an internal combustion engine comprises an electrode (3) designed with a base part (5) and a projection (10). The spark gap via the projection is essentially shorter than a normal spark plug gap. The projection (10) is designed, by means of suitable choice of form and/or material, to be worn away after a short running period so that a correct spark plug gap is automatically obtained thereafter. The spark plug can be used for example in newly manufactured engines, which are subjected to a number of consecutive cold starts without reaching a normal running temperature.
