PURPOSE:To obtain a good copy free from soil of ground by controlling a peeling member, a developer supply controlling damper, a toner attracting electrode etc. of a developing and cleaning device. CONSTITUTION:When developing of one page on a photosensitive body is completed, the device is changed over to the state of cleaning. A developer peeling member 36 is turned to a position 36' off from a sleeve 32, and a developer supply controlling damper 38 is turned to a position 38' and closes the opening of a developer reservoir 33. Electrostatic voltage having sign opposite to the electrostatic charge of the toner is applied to a toner attracting electrode 39 from an electric power source 42. Good result is obtained by applying voltage, about 300V, higher than voltage of an electric power source 41 for developing bias applied to the sleeve 32. When cleaning, peeling and supplying of developer are also stopped, toner is taken away by the electrode 39 and a magnetic brush low in surface toner concentration is formed. Thus, large cleaning effect can be obtained. |
