The suppressor for electromagnetic waves produced from the connecting cable of an item of electric equipment is located around the cable (3) at the point of exit from the housing. Such electromagnetic interference (EMI) is generated by the internal circuitry of the equipment. The suppressor or absorber is in the form of a ring shaped element (4) that is produced of a magnetic material, such as ferrite, that has a high magnetic permeability. A strap is used (6) to fix the element to the housing. The ring may also be formed by two semicicular sections that are hinged together on one side and latch together on the other side. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for microcomputer produced interference. Provides simple means of suppressing electromagnetic interference.
