PURPOSE:To obtain a corona ion recorder capable of enhancing a recording head accuracy and conducting a multivalued recording by a method wherein prior to the irradiation of a corona ion flow the surface of an insulating recording medium is uniformly electrified to have a polarity reverse to the corona ion, and the corona ion flow is accelerated using an electric potential caused by the electrified charge. CONSTITUTION:On a recording medium 3 formed by providing an insulating layer 2 on a conductive substrate 1, electric charges 5 are uniformly applied previous to recording using a positive corona ion flow produced by a corona ion flow generator 4. Next, the recording medium 13 is fed in a direction of an arrow 13 to be disposed below a corona ion flow generator 14 consisting of elements respectively corresponding to recording dots. From among positive and negative corona ions produced by a corona ion generating electrode 18, only negative corona ions 25 are selected by a control electrode 16 applied with a signal to be accelerated by a surface potential on the recording medium 3, thereafter reaching the recording medium 3 to lower the surface potential. Thus, an electrostatic latent image with a reversed static contrast as high as 400V or more is formed. |
