A support ring 10 is produced from a sheet-metal strip 1 by stamping (blanking, punching) and bending. It comprises an annular bearing disc 2 which is closed in area and is held, by means of spacing ribs 8 which are integrally formed on its outer circumference, are bent away at 90@ from the plane of the disc and are configured with a U-shaped cross-section, to a further bearing disc 9, which is formed from a plurality of ring segments 6, is joined at least partially to the spacing ribs 8 and is bent away at 90@ with respect to the latter. The bearing disc 2 can be provided with a centring stub (connection).
