The present procedure for the preparation of a moisturizing tonic consists in sieving sodium and potassium chloride and calcium carbonate through an 0.6-mm mesh and preparing a 41.1 per cent aqueous solution of gum arabic, mixing both mixtures in a Prat blender until the powder disappears, the resultant solution being dried in a Vilanova-type oven at 50 degree for 18 hours. After drying, the product is granulated in a Frewitt-type granulator with a 1.25-mm mesh and mixed with talcum and magnesium stearate that have been sieved through an 0.35-mm mesh in a Rulon apparatus for 10 minutes. Finally the product is compressed in a rotary press, using dies of approximately 11 mm diameter.
