The diamond sintered compact comprises (vol.%) 93-99 diamond, 0.1-3 metal or carbide from groups IVa, Va and VIa and ferrous metal, and 0.5-7 porosity. Diamond is present as fractions 3-200 micron and submicron in vol. ratio 60:38 to 90:6. The manufacture includes heating powder mixture to part fraphitise diamond and sintering in hot press in high pressure/temperature apparatus in diamond stable region. Compact is acid leached to remove part of ferrous metal and carbide or metal.
