A cloth washing machine comprises a water tank (1)(2)(3) within a steaming chamber (1), and a conveyor moving cloth through the chamber and tank and including guide rollers (R1-R6)(L1-12), a stretcher acting on the cloth between at least two rollers, and a cloth vibrator (13) in the chamber outside the tank at a point where the cloth is stretched so that the vibration removes further water from the cloth. The vibrator is located on either side of the cloth path through the chamber. The vibrator may comprise a vibratory plate (15)(16) driven by an oscillator (14), or a vibrating mechanism (B1) (B2) driven by an ultrasonic microvibration generator. The method of removing water from the cloth is claimed.
