PURPOSE:To avoid any mooted point being produced by stapling operation of a sheet bundle in the number of sheets exceeding the limiting number by controlling a discharge means so as to be changed over to another discharge means other than a sheet sorting discharge means when a fact that the number of original sheets has accorded with the number of stapling limiting sheets is judged. CONSTITUTION:When a fact that a value equivalent to the number of sheets of copying paper discharged to each bin of a sorter has accorded with the stapling limiting sheet number of a stapler is judged, a discharge means 54 is changed over to another discharge means other than that of a sorting bin 55. Therefore the copying paper in the number of sheets exceeding the stapling limiting sheet number is not discharged to this sorting bin 55, so that such a mooted point as being produced by stapling the copying paper in the number of sheets exceeding the stapling limiting sheets of the stapler 61 is thus avoidable.
