Metal/ceramic composite and process for its manufacture

Insulators for the mounting of electrical and electronic components consist in most cases of ceramic rings which are joined on both sides to metal rings. Starting from a simple ceramic ring, the two metal rings are applied by means of various known processes. The novel metal/ceramic composite and its manufacturing process meet more stringent quality demands with respect to vacuum tightness, electrical insulation capacity and mechanical strengths. The plasma-spraying process used in this case can be used inexpensively for large numbers of pieces. This process starts from two metal components (1) which are to be joined and which are applied at a spacing to a spraying device. The metal/ceramic composite is manufactured by applying a ceramic part (3) joining these components.
