PURPOSE:To set the position of one's own vehicle and destination effectively by so providing a transparent position setting means as to overlap a display means and pressing a point in a map displayed on said display means from above said position setting means. CONSTITUTION:A distance sensor 11 detects the rotating number of a wheel, and an azimuth sensor 12 measures the terrestrial magnetism by coils to detect an absolute azimuth. Signals from the sensors 11, 12 are inputted to a microcomputer every unit of time. In the microcomputer 14, moving components are added to the position of one's own vehicle a unit of time before, whereby the present position is obtained. An initial position of the vehicle is taken into the microcomputer 14 by reading map data from an external storage device 13, displaying the same on an image display device 16 and indicating a desired position on the screen by a position setting device 15. The position setting device 15 is a plate-like transparent touch panel. When the driver presses a point on the displayed map, a device 16 piled on the device 15 outputs the pressed position to the microcomputer 14, so that the position of the vehicle and the destination thereof are set. |
