PURPOSE: To provide a long metallic fiber which is less in oxygen content, excellent in mechanical, electrical and chemical characteristics and high in quality by specifying the diameter of the fiber and the oxygen concentration at the specified depth from the surface of the fiber. CONSTITUTION: The diameter of the fiber is <=30μm, and the oxygen concentration is <=10 atm.% at the depth of <=300Åfrom the fiber surface. A metal is stainless steel. When the fiber is blended in a conductive plastic, a large electromagnetic wave shielding effect can be obtained without degrading the conductivity.
