Anti-urokinase monoclonal antibodies.

The present invention relates to a class of new IgG1 monoclonal antibodies directed to an epitope on human urokinase which corresponds to the so-called GFD-region (growth factor domain-like region), i.e. an aminoacidic sequence similar to the one which was found on the epidermal growth factor. The main feature of the monoclonal antibodies of the invention is in fact that of selectively binding to said epitope without binding to any other epitope of urokinase and in particular without interfering with the binding of the enzyme to its substrate and thus without interfering with the specific enzymatic activity of urokinase using the F6 fragment of urokinase.
