A drive-train slippage control system is described in which the control is exercised solely through the temporary fuel starvation and/or the interruption or retarding of the ignition of individual cylinders. A shift in the throttle valve position is still superimposed on this control, in which an adjuster is used which permits only a gradual shift and comes into operation only for longer control periods.
