Evaporator for a refrigerator provided with at least two preserving compartments including a loop-type serpentine unit 6 for the freezing compartment 3 and a loop-type serpentine unit 4 for the refrigeration compartment 2, characterised in that it is produced as a single piece from a metal tube, the said evaporator including an end part or outlet 7 containing, in a known fashion, a capillary tube, the said capillary tube leaving substantially tangentially from an elbow 8 formed at the start of said end part 7 and being fixed to the loop-type serpentine unit 6 associated with the freezing compartment 3.
