PURPOSE:To improve the torsional rigidity of a side member by lap welding a stiffening plate closing a part of a side member front aperture to the flange section of the side member front aperture edge and the side flange section of a cross member. CONSTITUTION:The tip edge of a side member 3 constituting a box cross section with a side member main body 30 and a closing plate 32 is protruded ahead from the front surface of a radiator core support panel 1 and has an aperture C1. Flange sections 30a-30c, 32a are formed at the periphery of the aperture C1. Apertures C2, C3 and side flange sections 40b, 42a, 42b are formed at the side edge of a cross member 4 consisting of a cross member main body 40 and a gus set cross member 42 welded to it. And, a stiffening plate 6 is arranged so as to block a part of said apertures C1, C2, C3 and is lap welded to individual flanges. |
