This support includes at least one coherent plate 2 of material which can act as a substrate for plants and a casing 3 which is watertight surrounding the plate 2. The casing 3 is provided with parts which, when the culture support 1 is filled with water, form water pockets 7, 8 extending laterally from the plate 2, which plate is made in particular of mineral fibres. The support serves to receive directly or indirectly, with interposition of blocks of culture 10, plants 9 the roots of which pass through the material of the plate 2 and extend into the water pockets 7, 8.
