PURPOSE:To improve the quality of an outputted image by providing a means for detecting the size of an original and a means for setting an erased range and removing charges on a photosensitive body corresponding to the erased range so that the image around an original image is erased. CONSTITUTION:The position of a 1st carriage 411 is judged from the number of pulses and the position data of a motor 33, and the existence and the size of the original G are detected according to the output levels of original detectors 63a and 63b. When the size of the original is detected and a copying size is determined, the erased range of an unnecessary black image appearing around the original image is set. When the erased range is set, the surface charges on the photosensitive drum electrostatically charged by an electrostatic charger are removed corresponding to the erased range where light emitting elements are lighted. Thereafter, an electrostatic latent image is not formed even in case of performing exposure. Thus, the clear copied image can be always obtained as a hard copy even if an original cover 1 is not quite closed. |
