The invention relates to a single-piece plastic clothes peg, in the case of which either the actuating part or the holding part is resiliently designed to be shaped like an M, the adjacent crosspieces of the M in each case being situated as close together as possible, and the counterpiece of the clothes peg, in the case of a resilient actuating part the two halves of the peg, in the case of a resilient peg part the two actuating halves, adjoining the external crosspieces of the M. The centre of the M simultaneously forms the pivot of the clothes peg, into which pivot there are pressed in a locking manner pins, which project from the external crosspieces of the M and are planar in shape to prevent twisting of the clothes peg, the external crosspieces being pretensioned when the clothes peg is not tensioned owing to the fact that the pins are offset with respect to the pivot, the said pretensioning producing the pressure exerted by the peg in the rest position. When the peg is manually opened, the bending force which occurs in the inside crosspieces is transmitted to the peg part and is used as a holding force for the parts to be pegged.
