PURPOSE:To efficiently analyze table format data with a simple operation by temporarily converting data based on converting expression information, creating a new item, and executing a prescribed data analysis for the item. CONSTITUTION:A data reading means 5 reads the table format data from a data storing file 4. An item converting means 6 converts the table format data read by the means 5 using the intermediate code of an item converting expression generated at an item converting expression interpreting means 3 and creates the new item. For the data conversion, operations for a function and an arithmetic operator are executed repeatedly according to the sequence of the operations for the intermediate code. Further, the numeric value of an applicable item in the table format data is used when an operand is the item name, and the numeric value of a numeric constant is used when the operand is the numeric constant. A data analyzing means 7 executes the data analysis composed of graph display and statistical analysis using an analysis characteristic parameter from an input means 2 for the item newly created by the means 6. The analyzed result is displayed on an output device 9 by an analyzed result display means 8.
