CATALYST FOR SIMULTANEOUS REMOVAL OF NITROGEN OXIDE AND CARBON MONOXIDE

PURPOSE:To simultaneously remove NOx and CO in exhaust gas from the boiler of a power plant, etc., by bringing the exhaust gas into contact with a catalyst contg. titanium oxide, a second component such as molybdenum oxide and a third component such as platinum and/or iron oxide in the presence of ammonia. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst contg. titanium oxide as a base, at least one kind of second component such as molybdenum oxide and at least one kind of third component such as platinum and/or iron oxide is obtd. Exhaust gas contg. at least NOx, CO and O2 is brought into contact with the catalyst in the presence of ammonia to oxidize the CO to CO2 with the O2 as well as to reduce the NOx to N2 with the ammonia. The exhaust gas is made harmless.
