A method for the production of 5-membered polyheterocycles comprising dehydrogenation condensation of 5-membered heterocyclic compounds in the presence of an oxidizing agent in which at least one of the conditions must be fulfilled: a. Dehydration of the reaction system, b. Deoxidation of the reaction system, and c. Reaction temperature at 15 DEG C or less, resulting in 5-membered polyheterocycles with a high degree of polymerization.
