PURPOSE:To impart hair, etc., with springiness and toughness and to improve the formability and retainability of a hair style, by adding water-soluble substances, especially two kinds of water-soluble substances to keratinous fiber of hair, etc., and forming a water-insoluble or scarcely soluble substances in the fiber. CONSTITUTION:Water-soluble substances, especially a combination of two kinds of substances which are soluble in water in separated state and form a water- insoluble or scarcely soluble substance when contacted with each other (a combination of a cationic component and an anionic component capable of forming a scarcely soluble salt having a ksp of <=1/10<2>, especially <=1/10<5> at 25 deg.C) are added to a kerationous fiber (hair, wool, woolen yarn for knitting and weaving, etc.) and are made to react with each other in the fiber to form a water- insoluble or scarcely soluble substance in the fiber and modify the keratinous fiber. Durable springiness and toughness can be imparted to a keratinous fiber by this process. |
