1,234,779. Metallo-stannoxane compounds. ALBRIGHT & WILSON Ltd. 22 Aug., 1968 [24 Aug., 1967], No. 39046/67. Heading C2J. [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises metallo-stannoxanes wherein M is Si, Ge or Pb, each R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> or R<SP>3</SP> is a hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon which may be the same or different, X is one or more electronegative atoms or groups and n is an integer from 1 to 3. These compounds are made by reacting a diorganotin oxide R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>SnO with a compound R<SP>1</SP> n MX 4-n , preferably in an inert solvent, e.g. benzene, at 40-80‹ C. X may be a halogen, e.g. Cl, or a group connected to the metal via a sulphur atom, e.g. thioglycollate. Such a metallo-stannoxane containing chlorine and made as above may be reacted with a compound containing a labile hydrogen atom or with a salt thereof. Such a compound may be a carboxylic acid, alkoxide, aryloxide, or mercaptide or a salt thereof, e.g. an ester of an α, #- mercapto carboxylic acid. |
