PURPOSE:To improve the display contrast by laminating a 1st polarizing material which has a good polarization degree and light transmissivity and a 2nd polarizing material which has large resistance to light alternately so that the axes of polarization become parallel to each other. CONSTITUTION:At least one polarizing member 26 is constituted by laminating the 1st polarizing material 26b which has the good polarization degree and light transmissivity and the 2nd polarizing material 26a which has the larger resistance to light than the 1st polarizing material 26b alternately so that their axes of polarization are parallel to each other. Therefore, when intense light is incident on the display device 21, the light passes through the 2nd polarizing material 26a first and the majority of light except light which is polarized in the direction of the axis of polarization is removed. Then when the light is incident on the 1st polarizing material 26b, light other than light which is polarized in its axis of polarization is absorbed sufficiently. Consequently, the display contrast can be improved and the durability of the display device to the light is improved. |
