PURPOSE: To miniaturize a detector and to reduce its cost by providing a digital memory for storing a series of values for demarcating frequency modulation characteristics for an oscillator and a transmitter at a modulator. CONSTITUTION: A digital memory 21 has a series of values that are supplied periodically to a module 10 via a D/A converter 22 under the control of a clock 23 for demarcating the frequency modulation characteristics of the module 10. The module 10 operates as a voltage controlled oscillator and a mixer. Then, a frequency modulation wave is radiated toward a target via an antenna 0 from the module 10. Then, echoes reflected by the target are received by the module 10. Then, a beat frequencyΔF obtained by output from the module 10 is filtered by a low-frequency selection filter 50 and an allowable signal for triggering a fuse is generated by output from a comparator 60 when the amplitude of a useful target echo that is detected by the comparator 60 is sufficient.
