<p>A spherical packing element (1) made of plastic for mass and heat transfer columns has a lattice work casing composed of parallel round bars (6, 7) and lattice bars (8, 9) disposed as meridians. A round bar (4, 5) corresponds to the diameter of the sphere. In order to make the packing element (1) suitable for, and adaptable to, a variety of operating conditions, the packing element (1) consists of two hemispheres (2, 3) mutually connected by ball elements or similar. A second lattice work packing element of smaller diameter can be advantageously inserted in the packing element (1), which can be readily assembled, in order to increase the transfer surface.</p> |
