PURPOSE:To enable recording in many gradations, by providing a plurality of recording means which convert inputted information on brightness into a plurality of density data corresponding to an individual output of a recording agent and which variably change the using amount of the recording agent per pixel unit in accordance with each density data. CONSTITUTION:An image recording apparatus is comprised of a data converting means a and a plurality of recording means b and c, or b-d. The data converting means a converts inputted information on brightness into a plurality of density data corresponding to an output of each of a plurality of recording agents having different density, with the use of an incorporated converting table so set that the hue and chromaticity after recording represent linear characteristics corresponding to the inputted information on brightness. Each of the recording means b-d performs recording in many gradations of image data by variably changing the using amount of the recording agent per pixel unit in accordance with each density data outputted from the data converting means a. |
