NON-ANTICOAGULANT HEPARAN SULFATE, PROCESS FOR EXTRACTION FROM ORGANS, AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS THEREOF

A process for the extraction of heparan sulfate from animal organs and tissues, such as spleen, pancreas, kidney, mucosa. The process comprises preparation of a complex of heparan sulfate with macroporous basic resins, decomplexation with salts of appropriate ionic strength and purification on resins. The obtained heparan sulfate has a low sulfur content, a SO3/-COO<-> ratio lower than 1, antithrombotic activity higher or equal to that of heparin and substantially no anticoagulant activity.
