Proces for dimerization of aliphatic mono-olefins, and more particularly ethene or propene, involves contacting the aliphatic mono-olefin in an aprotic organic solvent with a catalytic system comprising: - a palladium and/or ruthenium compound; - a monodentate phosphine ligand; - a copper salt of trihalomethane sulphonic acid.
