A spacer is provided to reduce the transfer of noise and vibration between an upper layer and a lower layer and to reduce the thickness of a slab and the quantity of concrete used. A spacer(1) is provided with a hollow body having an empty space and buried under a slab(7) for reducing the quantity of concrete used. The spacer is formed to have an elliptical body which is round at a horizontal section and has a long diameter in the longitudinal direction and a short diameter in the vertical direction at a vertical section to be convex in the horizontal direction and to be flat in the vertical direction to reduce the thickness(T) of a slab and the quantity of concrete used. In addition, the spacer is provided with flat planes on the upper and lower parts to be at a level with the ground and plural projections to absorb vibration and noise of a slab.
