1. Workbench of the type having a rigid and non-deformable structure (2), retractable means (3) which are secured to the structure (2) and which enable the workbench to be displaced horizontally and kept stable during displacement, and exclusively mechanical manoeuvring means (4) which enable the retractable means (3) to be manoeuvred in the direction of extension and that of retraction respectively and to put them in the active and inactive positions respectively, characterized in that the mechanical manoeuvring means (4) have, on the one hand, upper control means (8a) comprising a first lever (10a) which has a point (11a) of manoeuvring on which the user can exert a manual force, a bearing point (12a) which is secured to the structure (2) and a point (13a) of action on a second lever (10b), whereof the point (11b) of manoeuvring coincides with this point (13a) of action on the first lever (10a), whereof the bearing point (12b) is secured to the structure (2), and which second lever (10b) has at least one point (13'b, 13"b) of action associated with the retractable means (3) by means of transmission means (9), and, on the other hand, lower control means (8b) comprising at least one lever (10c) which is rigidly associated with the second lever (10b) of the upper control means (8a) by their common point (12b, 12c) of action, and which lever (10c) has a point (11c) of manoeuvring on which the user can exert a force, usually with one of his feet, and at least one point (13'c, 13"c) of action associated with the retractable means (3) by means of transmission means (9), in such a manner that the user can measure out the forces to be exerted on each of the control means (8a, 8b). |
