PURPOSE:To form a uniform liquid crystal orientation film by coating a liquid crystal panel substrate with aq. polyvinyl alcohol soln. after filtering the soln. at a temp. lower than the temp. of the coating environment. CONSTITUTION:Aq. polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) soln. is applied to a substrate of a liquid crystal panel after filtering the soln. at a temp. lower than the temp. of the coating environment. The above described filtration of the PVA soln. before coating can be executed at an optional lower temp. than the coating environment without requiring any particular condition concerning the filtration temp., but the filtration is preferably executed generally at about 5-20 deg.C. Particularly, it is recommended that the filtration is executed while maintaining the temp. at low temp. by holding the PVA soln. in a refrigerator. Since, a uniform film of PVA or its copolymer can be formed by this method, unevenness of display in a liquid crystal element is reduced. |
