METHOD OF MAINTAINING TOPOLOGY INFORMATION

PURPOSE: To optimally maintain the topological database by automatically deleting a record from the topological database when a related message is not received as to corresponding resource for a prescribed period. CONSTITUTION: A network node decrements a time field by one at the end of a day. When the time field reaches zero, the network node deletes a resource record from a local copy of a topological database. A node having a resource generates periodically a topological database update(TDU) message and communicates the message to other network nodes in multiple address communication, Each network node monitors a traffic of a received message and the time field as to an identified resource record is reset when the traffic includes a TDU message from other node. Thus, the maintenance of topological information is simply conducted.
