PURPOSE:To improve the extent of engine performance by increasing or decreasing the content volume of a subchamber according to engine speed, in case of such one as the subchamber is interconnected to an exhaust pipe connecting an exhaust port of the engine to a main chamber. CONSTITUTION:A subchamber 7 is interconnected to an exhaust pipe 5, connecting an exhaust port 4 of an engine 1 to a main chamber, via a branch pipe 8. In this constitution, the subchamber 7 is constituted of a cylinder 9 and a plunger 10 being slidden inside of the cylinder 9. And, a rod 11 of the plunger 10 is connected to a rectilinear mechanism 13 to be driven by a servomotor 12 via a linear bar 14. At this time, with speed of the engine 1 going up, for example, the plunger 10 is slidden to the side of the exhaust pipe 5, and content volume in the subchamber 7 is reduced. With this constitution, a pressure regulating function of the subchamber 7 is improved, thus performance of the engine 1 is upgraded.
