PURPOSE:To shorten a detecting action time by detecting the size of original with a density sensor and also detecting the density of original in the midst of closing an original cover. CONSTITUTION:When the original cover 13 is closed to be at a specified angle and a switch 36 is turned on, outputs from respective sensor units 26 are converted into digital data and stored in a memory. Then, the data is compared with a comparatively low specified threshold and the size of original is detected based on the number of the sensor units 26 in which the data larger than the threshold is obtained. Moreover, the selecting the largest value from the data, the density data corresponding to the lightest part can be obtained and the density of original can be detected. Then, the size of original and the density of original can be simultaneously detected and the time necessary for detecting can be shortened. |
