PURPOSE:To enable cutting or boring of metal in the water by interlocking the ratio between discharge time and non-discharge time, repeating time thereof, starting time of discharge and stopping time of discharge with vibration displacement, position and timing of electrode. CONSTITUTION:A thyristor IC (TCA780) is arranged in charging circuit, and gate ON time thereof is set to such position as the electrode comes to a proper position through vibration displacement based on the waveform and the magnitude of synchronous input voltage (vibration displacement and synchronization) to IC and the magnitude of control voltage. In a discharge circuit, control is carried out through IC such that the gate of the thyristor is turned ON corresponding to the vibration displacement position and timing of electrode upon finish of charging of capacitor, so as to start/stop discharge and turn OFF the gate at proper time. Aforementioned operations and interlocked to repeat charging/discharging of capacitor so as to carry out electric discharge machining in the water or oil. Consequently, cutting or boring of metal in the water can be carried out with reduced power and loss.
