PURPOSE:To reduce the influence of the residual magnetic field when a magnetic domain is observed by furnishing a magnetic substance which can be attached closely to or removed from the upper and the lower poles of a pole piece at a time. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic substance 4 is installed to the tip of a shaft 5 which is slidable along a hole 6 at the side of a yoke 1, and the shaft 5 is made movable at the side surface of the yoke 1 in the vertical direction. By the gearing of the groove hole of a cover 7 and a projection 8, the magnetic substance 4 is positioned either at the position A where the magnetic substance 4 is closely attached to the upper pole 2 and the lower pole 3 of the piece pole at a time, or at the position where it is separated from the both poles at a time. In the observation of a magnetic domain when an object lens is OFF and an auxiliary lens 9 is used, the magnetic substance 4 is placed at the position A, and the magnetic flux from the residual magnetism of the object lens penetrates as the arrow in the figure. Consequently, the magnetic field from the residual magnetism near the sample 11 is made small.
