PURPOSE:To enhance noiseproofness and to improve reliability by a construction wherein a magnetoresistance effect element detecting a leakage flux from a magnetic track is inclined at a specified angle to the direction of advance of the magnetic track. CONSTITUTION:Magnetoresistance effect elements R, R1-R5 detecting a leakage flux from a magnetic track 6 composed of a magnetized zone 21 and a nonmagnetized zone 20 are disposed in inclination of theta to the direction of lines of the magnetic track 6, i.e. the direction of advance thereof. On the occasion, the range of a value of the inclination theta is set to be tan<-1>(0.75lambda/l)<=theta<=tan<-1>(1.25lambda/l) when the magnetization pitch of the magnetized zone 21 is set to be lambda and the width of the magnetic track 6 to be l. Thereby the variation of a leakage field is leveled, and the pulsation of an output waveform can be reduced within about 10% of a difference in an output level between the magnetized zone 21 and the nonmagnetized zone 20.
