The invention relates to a method of renovating and upgrading a cannon which comprises a barrel 1 and an associated rear piece unit 2. The cannon works with a sealing function for gas pressure forces, recoil braking, advancing and other functions which may affect the rear piece unit. On the cannon to be renovated, the barrel and the rear piece unit are separated. The rear piece unit is drilled out so that a cutout 2a, 2b present in the rear piece unit for mounting the unit on the separated barrel is made continuous. The rear piece unit 2 thus drilled out is mounted on a new barrel 1 which, compared with the separated old barrel, has been provided with a rear extension part 1'. The drilled-out rear piece unit is mounted on the barrel via the drilled continuous cutout. The sealing function is arranged in such a manner that the gas pressure forces which occur on firing and which act against the sealing means in the form of a wedge, screw etc. are relieved to the extension part/the barrel via the means. <IMAGE> |
