PURPOSE:To enable stable copying without generating image flow even under high-temp. and high humidity conditions by supplying hydrophilic powder to the surface of a photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:The hydrophilic powder is supplied by spraying, blowing, etc., to the surface of the a-Si photosensitive body in order to interpose a material having water absorptivity in the surface of the photosensitive body so that moisture is adsorbed on the surface by said material. The hydrophilic powder includes powder of ceramics, powder of an Si compd., etc. The smaller grain sizes of the powder are more preferable. The surface area of the powders of the same weight increases and the water absorptivity increases if the grain size is reduced. The supply of the hydrophilic powder is executed by a method of supplying the powder via a cleaning roller, a method of previously incorporating the hydrophilic powder into a toner at need, etc. The generation of the image flow even in the continuous copying under at and under the high temp. and high humidity (for example, atm. temp. - 30 deg.C, relative humidity - 85%) is thereby prevented.
