PURPOSE:To send out a signal to which an error correction code is added and a code to which the code is not added with high efficiency by switching a means which sends out data together with the added code for error correction and a means which sends out the data as it is. CONSTITUTION:Eight-bit data is switched by a switching circuit 6 with the data with the error correction code in its original form without being divided by four bits, and converted from parallel to serial simultaneously with the time base conversion of a time-base converting circuit 7, and the data is outputted at the same rate with a clock, etc., and applied to a synthesizing circuit 9. At this time, a read clock is switched by a clock switching circuit 8 because there is a difference in timing between the case wherein eight bits are generated by adding the error correction code to each four-bit data and the case wherein the eight-bit data is used as it is without being processed. Those three kinds of signals are switched with a signal from a timing switching signal generating circuit 10. Consequently, the signal to which the error correction code is added a code to which the code is not added are sent out efficiently.
