PURPOSE:To facilitate mounting of a falling down protection frame by reinforcing a part of an engine cover as a reinforcing guard and fixing the falling down protection frame provided along a canopy to this, in an object where a canopy and an engine cover are arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:In an excavator, a canopy 2 and an engine cover 3 are arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction on a reinforcing frame 1 installed on the base such as rotary frame, etc. In this case, polls 6a, 6b which are separate from each other on the right and left are laid along the rear wall 2d of the canopy 2 inside the canopy 2 and a falling down protection frame 5 whose ceiling frame 6c is fixed to the upper part of these polls 6a, 6b. While the front side of the engine cover 3 is constituted of a reinforcing cover 4 reinforced with reinforcing frames 8a, 8b. And the lower ends of the polls 6a, 6b of the falling down protection frame 5 are welded together through poll fixing seats 4a, 4b to the reinforcing frames 8a, 8b of this reinforcing guard 4.
