PURPOSE:To improve the operatability and the comfortableness of air conditioning by a method wherein louvers are oscillated while their oscillating positions being detected and when the oscillating positions are at desired positions, the oscillating actions are terminated. CONSTITUTION:Louvers 6-6 are swung around their supporting shafts 6a-6a by a driving mechanism 11 so as to perform a so-called swing movement. Air conditioned air for varying an air direction is supplied into a vehicle compartment. In case an air conditioning in one specific direction is required, the desired positions where the louvers 6-6 are to be stopped are set under operation of a setting means 30 and when the swinging positions of the louvers 6-6 detected by a position sensing means 12 are at the desired positions set by a setting means 30 through a stopping means 30, the driving mechanism 11 is stopped and the swinging operation of the louvers 6 is terminated. Accordingly, it is possible to get an effect of comfortable air conditioning in which a direction of air conditioned air is always varied to generate a swinging of air wind in a vehicle compartment. When it is desired to fix the air wind direction to a desired one, the swinging movement of the louvers 6-6 can easily be stopped in one-touch operation and the direction can be fixed at a desired air wind direction.
